Riversdale to Swellendam to Riversondered
Day 7 & 8 – Two calm days lovely landscapes
On day 7 Brigit cycled 73 km with 675m ascent from Riversdale to Buffelsragsrivier – which likely means the hunting grounds for buffalos.
There she was met by Johan from the Swellendam who brought her to her guesthouse and later took her for a meal together with his wife and other members from the cycling club. What a wonderful reception. You’ll find some pictures in the picture gallery below.
Day 8 was a lovely, shorter 59 km and 495 m ascent ride to Riversonderend, with a super cold start but warming up to a pleasant 18 degrees.
The landscape on both days was stunning and great for bird watching, cycling and hiking. On day 7 she was followed by a curious herd of ostriches who ran towards and then alongside of her. She saw many birds of prey, southern red bishops, cape vultures, and geese.
These two days were days for contemplation and simply enjoying nature.
