Day five

Day five - Cold, wind, rain, some sun 78 km, 210m ascent
--> We raised CHF 1036.-

Day five - Rainy, windy, hilly and varied

We started in Montreux, a lovely town at lake Geneva, with palm trees and many market stands at the lakeside promenade. Then we passed castle Chillon, which is supposed to be the most visited castle in Switzerland thanks to Byron's poem, the prisoner of Chillon. The rest of the day was spent cycling on mostly straight bike paths with a slight uphill alongside the Rône river to Sion. It was a windy, chilly day, mixed with rain and sun. The valley called Valais is famous for its wine, its apricots and its wind - which caused us like many visitors a headache. But despite all the aches, we were happy. Not only did we raise the 780.- from the founders, but also another 256.- from auctioning out a bike and were pledged some more from friends.
